Kanyargós Estate Furmint 2012

Plantation: The grapes for our vineyard-selected Furmint come from a slope on the outskirts of Szegilong settlement. The largest contiguous area of our family estate with its excellent terroir can be found on the Hatalos slope steeply inclining towards the south-east, and due to its mineral-rich soil capable of producing high quality wines. The size of the plantation is 3 ha. Date of planting: 1998. Canopy management: mid-high cordon, 3-meter row distance, and 1-meter spacing between vines.

Winemaking-ripening: To preserve the value of the high quality grapes our wine is produced by using conventional methods. At our winery the harvest takes place in two phases. The harvest for our dry wine is from early to mid-October, with only 1 or 2 grape clusters left on the vines long enough to develop the “noble rot” mold by the second phase in November for our lateharvest and „Tokay”-wines. In case of dry wines after crushing and destemming the berries are gently pressed, then the gained juice is settled. 225 liter oak barrels are used for the fermentation process. After fermentation the „Battonage” winemaking technique is applied, then for the vineyardselected wines 6-8 months oak barrel ripening follows.
Wine details: Alcohol: 14% vol Sugar: 6 g/l Acid: 6 g/l Quantity: 3,000 bottles

Our 2012 Hatalos Furmint comes from very nicely ripped grapes. A fruity, juicy item, with a little sweetness. It is a full-bodied wine with enough acidity. Minerality, a bit of camphor, with floral markings, many tertiary aromas and fermentation esters can be perceived among its flavors.
